my findings on the World Wide Web. RETURN.
the indie web is great, they keep making horrible video games on it. as i browse i will add my favorite horrible video games to this list
THE LEAKY WEBRING by MELONKING: i love leaky webring. it's an MMO where the """plot""" is that a bunch of people's webpages have filled with water, and the """gameplay""" consists of clicking on water and waiting for it to drain. it takes like 2 minutes to fully drain a page and then it slowly fills back up.
and since the water level is kept globally among all users it's almost like community service. making the pages more useful for everyone, for a whopping 6 hours. they invented web pages that you have to do pointless, boring community service in order to use. its awesome
CHECKBOX GAME by COOL WEBSITE: a thing of beauty. it's such a pain in the ass, especially on my trackpad. i love it dearly. i love how easy it is to make a checkbox in html. like you can just they don't even have to do anything you can just put checkboxes wherever you want. hey reader do you like to click on things because
CLICKER by TABBY: this guy made. an incredibly barebones clicker game. now i can never close my browser again, i have to just keep running clicker game puddle by tabby, indefinitely. like there's a save feature but i have to RUN IT IDLY... to get POINTS..... at the time of writing i have 32 click power and 68 autoclickers!! i will never escape
actually i think clicker games are a great way to really EXPERIENCE the difference between orders of magnitude. i think thats their main artistic feature
not really a big nonfiction guy but there's a couple things i've read/watched that have really left a significant mark on me. here's all of them
i feel tempted to add a disclaimer, that i don't 100% believe/endorse everything in these articles. but actually, what's with that? the assumption that if you share interesting ideas you must be ride-or-die 100% on board with every metaphor and aside. that's not how this works. i like to think and discuss, and so i share things that i find interesting to think about. that is all.
THE STORY OF US by WAITBUTWHY: guy talks about everything. human trends in all a very abstract way, an elegant framework through which everything makes sense. this article is only availible through time travel 'cos he took the whole thing down and made it into a book.
A CHEMICAL HUNGER by SLIME MOLD TIME MOLD: on the obesity epidemic. had me gaping and going 'what the fuuuuuuck, really?????' the entire time. like, this shit is so fucked up if true. i don't want to spoil what shit i am referring to, you should just read it
ON THE ETHICS OF BOINKING ANIMAL PEOPLE by PATRICIA TAXXON: what it says on the title. i think all the non-furries should give it a whirl, because it explains the appeal of furries in a really fun and hilarious way that makes you fall in love with art and the weird wonders of the world. and for those that are horny furries, it's like a great weight has been lifted. it's good
ON ONLINE ENTITLEMENT by CJ THE X: about annoying internet commenters. required watching for anyone that comments on anything, antidote for anyone that receives comments from anyone..... or just has to exist on this fuck of a place we call the internet
